Using the QR code in the lid, all stages of the honey can be tracked seamlessly – from the bee colony and honey extraction at the beekeeper’s to the barrel, transportation and bottling at Manuka Kontor GmbH. Each jar of Madhu Mānuka honey thus tells its own story and offers a further opportunity to get to grips with the valuable honey and call up the laboratory analyses directly on your cell phone.

Mānuka honey is one of the rarest and most precious honeys in the world and is considered a natural remedy in many different areas of life. Just one spoonful of Mānuka honey provides the body with strength and energy. The declared methylglyoxal content (MGO) is an important point in understanding the power of Mānuka honey – in general, the higher the MGO, the rarer and more valuable it is. Madhu Mānuka honey is produced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way according to constantly monitored standards – in harmony with nature. The honey comes by sea from New Zealand directly to the company’s own production facility, where it is processed as gently as possible. In this way, Madhu Honey produces Mānuka honey that is of the highest quality and purity – true to the motto: As pure as nature has given it to us.

Mānuka honey has become increasingly popular in recent years. While the Maori recognized its power early on, it has only gained importance in Western culture in recent years. Today, it is considered a beacon of hope in the treatment of skin, throat and intestinal diseases.
→ The MGO secret

Since the beginnings of Mānuka honey research in the early 1980s by Professor Dr. Molan at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, the mystery surrounding Mānuka honey and its antibacterial properties has not abated. Many years of research have passed since then without a real explanation being found. Even in Germany, the TU in Dresden under Prof. Dr. Henle tried to find an explanation and came across the ingredient methylglyoxal, which correlated very closely with the UMF standard of Prof. Dr. Molans, which measures the displacement of catalase in a Petri dish by Mānuka honey. The speed at which this occurred was compared with antibacterial phenol solution in vitro. A method that was tested again and again under constant observation and eventually became. Dr. Molan’s Gold Standard. Methylglyoxal MGO, a persistent side effect, thus became an acceptable companion that could be easily measured in the laboratory. The “strengths” in Mānuka honeys are sometimes so different that the question of “why” remains open. The fact is that we can measure methylglyoxal and that these in vitro tests with bacteria and enzymes are robust. We simply say that the perfection that is manuka honey is greater than the sum of its parts. It is a tightly woven web of enzymes, hormones, vitamins and more that make up the totality of this precious natural product. In other words: Mānuka honey is still a miracle of nature – despite and with intensive research for many years!
